“Hawaiian Honeycreeper” - Original Artwork

The ‘Apapane is a Hawaiian Honeycreeper endemic to Hawaii. ‘Apapane have brush tipped tongues adapted for sipping nectar and heavily rely on Ohi’a flower nectar. I wanted to paint the symbiotic relationship between the two endemic species, both of which are currently under habitat loss as well. The yellow hibiscus and honeycomb are elements I added to incorporate the “honey” theme for a lil play on the name.
